The driver will efficiently deliver products to local and regional customers. The driver loads, unloads, delivers, and returns compressed gas cylinders, liquid gas cans and hardgoods while frequently interacting with customers.


Main responsibilities include:

  • Safely loads, unloads and delivers cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations.

  • Maintains load manifests and all required vehicle documents, ensuring they are properly completed and balanced with truck counts and shipping documents before and after deliveries.

AGL Welding Supply Co. is a regional Leading Distributor of Specialty, Medical and Industrial gases in the NY/NJ metro area. A family owned business since 1920, AGL strives to exceed customer's expectations with excellent customer service. AGL is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Extinguisher (FX) Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform fire extinguisher services, installations, maintenance and sales for AGL customers and other FX Companies. This is a full service end-to-end process where the technician is responsible for all activity from calling customers to schedule visits to collecting payment as required. Services and maintains AGL fire extinguishers in order to comply with the state and federal law.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct annual Fire Extinguisher inspections at customer’s locations. Main activities include but are not limited to maintaining and monitoring customer inspection log, calling customers and scheduling inspections, conducting inspections, and determining whether equipment needs to be serviced.
  • Conduct annual Fire Extinguisher inspections for AGL to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Disassemble and reassemble fire extinguishers for testing and refilling purposes.
  • Drive to customer locations to retrieve extinguishers requiring service. Perform service and testing at AGL site and return to customer location.
  • Ensure proper invoicing for services rendered. Obtains management approval for customer visits without a prepared invoice.
  • Respond to customer and prospective customer questions regarding types of fire extinguishers are needed for them to be in compliance and safe.
  • Provide new and existing customers quotes for extinguishers and supplies such as signs and hooks. Closes sale and installs new fire extinguishers at customer locations.
  • Work with collections if an account due for certification is flagged. Collect monies due to AGL prior to certification process.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and fire extinguishers; refurbish and paint fire extinguishers as needed.
  • Provide back up and support for retest Department as needed. Inspect CO2 extinguisher.

Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Working knowledge of Fire extinguisher laws and methods and processes for servicing and certifying extinguishers
  • Basic computer skills
  • Follow up and attention to details
  • Planning, organizing and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to diagnose equipment problems and perform repairs.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications.

  • Manual load and unload freight using the appropriate equipment under the direction of the dispatcher.
  • Plan the loading of freight into trailers to fully utilize available space and minimize risk of damage.
  • Properly perform tasks to assure safety and to prevent damage to cargo. Secure load to prevent shifting, falling and damage to the freight.
  • Perform work in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Learn about Hazardous Materials and handle them in a safe, correct manner in accordance with training received.
  • Provide constant feedback to Dispatchers on specific freight handling.
  • Actively participate in driver/dock meetings providing managers with feedback on work processes. Work to understand and support targeted growth plans.

Responsibilities include manual loading and unloading of freight with the use of a hand truck, adhering to all dock safety regulations regarding the movement of cylinders. Furthermore, the dock worker is to follow all standard operating procedures regarding the completion of dock paperwork and dock cleanliness.

  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be detailed-oriented with good organizational skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, SDS, and procedure manuals
